Barcelos Eco Fishing is a brand-new liveaboard (commissioned in 2023) running peacock-bass-belt fishing trips on the Aracá, Cuiuni, Demeni and Rio Negro rivers (both above and below Barcelos), all within the Rio Negro basin out of Barcelos (Amazonas state, Brazil). It was founded by lifelong anglers Júnio and Rosângela Melgueiro together with Elisa and Davi Bottrel — a small family-run operation aimed at the week-long Amazon angler.
The vessel's edge is a shallower draft, which lets her work the back-end of the great Rio Negro lakes — water that taller riverboats can't reach. Suite cabins have 9,000 BTU AC units, a spacious en-suite bathroom with hot water, and a queen + single bed; the panoramic dining room runs floor-to-ceiling glass facing river and jungle, and the integrated lounge carries a full-size pool table with the boat's brand felt, a TV, snacks and a small bar. Starlink internet onboard.
Day-trip fishing runs from skiffs equipped with three platforms, a Mercury 30 hp outboard and a 44 lb electric trolling motor — the standard Rio Negro setup for casting work — with experienced local guides who know the region. On the Thursday return evening, the onboard dinner is Pizza Night.
The season runs from the second half of August through the end of March (the 2026/2027 cycle is confirmed), tracking the Rio Negro low-water cycle. The full package covers the Manaus–Barcelos round-trip air taxi, breakfast, lunch, dinner, soft drinks, water, pilsner beer (Heineken, Amstel, Original or Império) and snacks.
