Manso Fishing Resort

Manso Fishing Resort is a premium fishing lodge on the shore of Lago do Manso, a hydropower reservoir in the Chapada dos Guimarães region of Mato Grosso, about 130 km from Cuiabá. The trip targets peacock bass: anglers head out early on a dedicated bass boat per pair, with a local guide and unlimited fuel, and return at sunset to a full resort-style base on the lake. The lodge only books groups of 4 anglers or more.

The fleet runs 18 Bass Boat Raptor units with 100 HP Mercury outboards and Minn Kota trolling motors — one boat per pair. Departure at 06:30, return by 17:00, with a stocked onboard cooler (beer, soft drinks, water, snacks) for the full day. Personal fishing gear is the angler's responsibility; rental kits are available on-site for a daily fee.

The lake holds three active peacock bass species: the yellow (Cichla kelberi) is the most abundant, sitting on structure — laydowns, submerged trunks and rock piles — along shallow banks; the blue (Cichla piquiti) hits hard in deeper water and around island points; the pinima (Cichla pinima) shows up in smaller numbers but reaches the biggest sizes on the lake. Regular season runs February through September.

Everything else is all-inclusive: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are bundled in the package. So are the drinks — beer, house wine selection, premium spirits, cocktails, water, juices and soft drinks, with no cap on consumption. The kitchen operates at hotel standard, with both an open-air restaurant and an air-conditioned dining room.

Rooms are large suites with air conditioning, box-spring beds and minibar, sleeping up to four anglers each — a layout that fits friend groups, couples and families. The grounds include a pool, sun deck, games room, gardens and a spa (treatments charged separately). Beyond fishing, the lake supports stand-up paddle, kayaking, wakeboarding and snorkeling, and there are boat trips to nearby beaches and islands.

Lago do Manso is a hydropower reservoir on the upper Cuiabá river, with calm water, cerrado scenery and easy logistics (private car or road transfer from Cuiabá).
