Santana Rio Negro Lodge

Negro River

Santana Rio Negro Lodge is a peacock bass fishing lodge on the right bank of the Rio Negro, located 73.9 km upriver from Barcelos between the towns of Barcelos and Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, in the middle Rio Negro region of the Brazilian Amazon. The operation runs scheduled Saturday-to-Saturday packages with six full fishing days on one of the most productive stretches of the Amazon for trophy peacock bass — a region known for producing some of the largest specimens ever caught.

The fishing fleet is built around bass boats powered by 60hp-or-larger outboards plus bow-mounted electric trolling motors, the standard setup for casting topwater plugs, jerkbaits and jigs for Cichla temensis. Each pair of anglers shares a dedicated boat with an experienced guide, and the package includes fuel, marine radio, life jackets, and an onboard drinks cooler. Lunch can be served back at the lodge or in the field during the day's expedition.

The shoreside operation pairs a comfortable lodge with a remote Amazon setting. Guests stay in twin cabins with air conditioning, minibar, private bathroom with hot water, and balcony, offered in two formats: the Standard Suite (50 m², two queen beds) and the Premium Suite (100 m², two queen beds, with bathtub). Common areas include a swimming pool, lounge with hammocks, games room, and a dining room serving three daily meals plus snacks. Beverages (water, fresh juices, soft drinks, beer and caipirinha), Wi-Fi and laundry are included throughout the stay.

The standard package runs nine days: Friday arrival in Manaus with an included overnight in the city, Saturday transfer to Barcelos and onward boat ride to the lodge, six full fishing days Sunday through Friday, and check-out the following Saturday. Beyond the fishing, the lodge offers complementary Amazon activities — jungle trails, boat tours for bird and caiman watching, and visits to local Rio Negro communities.
