Paraíso da Pesca Esportiva
Balbina Lake
Paraíso da Pesca Esportiva lodge sits on the shore of Lake Balbina, a reservoir formed by damming the Uatumã River in Presidente Figueiredo (AM) roughly 180 km from Manaus, and runs weekend packages centered on peacock bass fishing in black-water Amazon conditions. The property has chalets, a swimming pool with a tiled deck, and a private dock lined with a fleet of more than ten motorized aluminum boats ready for two full days on the reservoir.
Lake Balbina ranks among Amazonas's prime freshwater fisheries for Cichla temensis (speckled peacock bass, paca and açu color phases) and also holds Cichla vazzoleri, a species native to the Uatumã River on which the reservoir was built. Submerged trunks and branches of trees flooded when the dam was built in the 1980s blanket vast stretches of the reservoir, providing natural holding and feeding structure for both species. Quality specimens above 4 kg are consistently landed during the dry season.
The weekend package covers three overnight stays, Friday evening through Monday morning, with full board throughout: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Friday's overnight is complimentary for the angler; beverages are not part of the package but are sold on-site. Children under 10 fish at no additional charge.
Beyond the fishing, the lodge offers a pool, coconut-tree-lined lawns, and a relaxed atmosphere between boat departures. The sunset over Lake Balbina, with silhouettes of half-submerged trunks reflected in still water, is one of the most iconic visuals of this Amazonian fishery. The setting suits friend groups, couples, and parents fishing alongside older children.
